My former little blue Festiva is parked in a small, tight parking lot and it is on the end of the row where it is likely to get hit. I walk up just in time to see two different pickup trucks strike it, one after the other. I quickly memorize the license plate numbers of the perpetrators as they speed away. Lots of 7's and 5's.

As I get closer, it appears as though it has escaped damage except a small insignificant dent near the front bumper. Then I see that the driver's side door has been completely scored, likely by the hitch on the truck that backed into it. The door is all punched in and there is a large hole.

But then I notice that the car is full of people, who have gotten in it to drive away. They seem to think it's their car, and I stop them and tell them it's my car. I offer some evidence such as the familiar stereo, and a stuffed animal in the back, which I bought for someone, maybe my sister, but then decided not to give to her. I look around, and there is no other car that I may have mistaken it with, so it must be mine. The driver gets out and goes into the store, apparently to discuss the problem with someone.

Looking further at the car, I discover that it is not in fact mine. Looking in the passenger side door, I can see a bracket under the front center console, to hold a CB or something, that is an unfamiliar shape. The stuffed animal isn't quite the same one I remember, and the license plate has S's and 8's in it, whereas my car's plate was PJF 402.
