India Big Wheel Jungle AdventurefritzMar 19, 2008

I believe I'm somewhere in India, in a hot village on a hill. I take off for a little tour of the village, with someone (I think Leah) on a Big Wheel (the plastic trike some kids had when I was young).

We ride into this jungle area, where we are attacked by a roving gang of young teens. They are behaving aggressively from a distance, like a wild jungle tribe, but I don't think they will actually harm us until they let loose a barrage of arrows at us. We jump behind some bushes, but then I get out again to escape and they shoot some more, and as I shield us a half dozen or so of their arrows get stuck in the palm of my hand.

They don't hurt much, and I am fairly easily able to pull them out as we run out of the jungle and escape back into the village, leaving the Big Wheel in the bushes.

Then I'm trying to find my way back to the house where we are staying. I go into a building (alone), which looks like a good place to ask around, a multistoried stone place built into the side of the hill. As I explore up the stairs, I see laundry and other evidence that it is the inside of somebody's home, so I feel awkward about my intrusion and head back down the stairs to get out.

When I've almost left, I meet a dark-skinned man, who seems surprised to see me there and wants me to leave. At first I can't understand what he's saying, but it turns out he's speaking English, just with a strong accent, and after asking him to repeat a few things I catch on.

He tries to give me directions back to where I'm staying, but after a minute of this, offers to drive me there in his car. We get in and start winding through the town, but I'm wondering how I can find my Big Wheel and get it back.
