A Climb, Lost Pack, and a Moving TrainfritzJun 22, 2008

I'm climbing a mountain, on a wide snowy trail. I seem to have left my backpack behind, but I realize that it is on my back. Some time later, I realize that I've forgotten it again, and this time I see it, way down at the bottom of a hill below us.

Just as I see it, another climber runs over it, on a sled pulled by some dogs. He doesn't notice, but it gets caught in the front of his sled and just gets pushed along, up the hill toward us, but then they go out of sight behind the crest of the hill. When he comes over the hill, he is carrying my backpack and sort of holding it up and waving it around as if to advertise to everyone that he's found it, so they can claim it. I say "hey, that's mine!" and he gives it to me, commenting on my rudeness for the grabby way I said it. I say I'm sorry, no, I really appreciated him bringing it up for me, I just meant to claim it.

At the top of the mountain is a building with a parking lot, and my Subaru is parked there. I put my gear in there, but I am really hungry, and either I have lost my food, or I've eaten it all.I need some food soon. I need to tell my climbing partners, but they've gone on ahead. I race to catch up with them, and end up walking with a young boy, someone familiar. As we proceed, we become light and start to fly inexplicably, and from the air we can see the summit; it is a large block of easy vertical rock, with many climbers on it. It seems that those that want the easy route just drive up to the summit and climb this rock, and they're at the top. We have to stop this flying, go down there and climb it.

So we go down, but Mom and the rest of my group have boarded a train, like a subway with many stops so I run after them and jump on. I convince them that we have to get off at the next stop, turn around, and go back so that we can climb the summit block. They disappear, and I'm alone on the train, and I've missed the first stop.

As I'm waiting for the next stop, where I can change to a train going the other way, I notice that some people are jumping off the train. It seems to be going too fast for that - there must be some trick to it. I'm going to go and investigate, and probably jump off the train with them. It seems fun and adventurous. But first, I'm fiddling with my camera, so that I can take a movie of the experience. As I'm getting ready to jump from a moving train, it seems that the footage could be useful for my band, called "From A Moving Train".
