Another Forgotten Fish TankfritzJul 12, 2008

I've once again forgotten one of my fish tanks, this one in the Pool Room at my parents' house, on a low shelf near the floor, where the piano now stands. When I find it, it has evaporated down to a couple inches of green sludge.

Surprisingly, some of the fish are still alive. Most of them have eaten each other, but it's down to two fish, each of which has half consumed a still-living worm-shaped fish. It seems that the worm fish are too big to eat at once, so the other fish are living off them for a long time, keeping them in their mouths and eating a bit at a time.

Then I discover a small capped bottle, like a mini plastic wine bottle, in the sludge, and I open it and pour out several other fish, still living, but just barely. Now that I've poured them out, they need water, and I don't have any. The water from the tap must be treated because of the chlorine! And it's too cold for them! What do to! I'm rushing around trying to solve these problems.
