Punches and Hugs in India | | fritz | Oct 20, 2008 | I'm in India, in a crowded place, perhaps a bar. I'm being harassed by some locals, I don't remember why, probably trying to sell me something. They are rather intimidating and one of them throws a punch at me, which seems like it would hurt, but it doesn't. I throw a punch back, though I have the impression that I pulled it, not hitting him very hard. Then his friends gather behind him, at least three or four of them, and I leave quickly.
My departure is impeded by one small Indian who is grabbing me tightly, hugging me, and he won't let go. I make it quite a way, but he stays latched on. I'm getting annoyed and try to squirm away from him roughly.
I think I'm lost, wandering in this city on a slight hill, sort of like Seattle. I have mental pictures of a few streets.
I have the impression that traveling alone in India really is too difficult for me, and scarier than it appears. | Next: My Friend Always Smells Like That |
