Shrub Trimming and Secret Caves | | fritz | Jan 30, 2006 | I'm trimming a large shrub. It's got a huge trunk near the base, and I think about how old it must be. But it twists and gnarls and tangles like gorse, not tall like a standing tree. A number of branches have been cut at the "trunk", and I am clearing them away. I think I'll need a chain saw to cut some of the others. I think about instructing someone to do this job: better cut too much than not enough.
Climbing down around the roots I notice that there are caves and catacombs under there, which seems a significant discovery, like I've been living with it all these years but never notice. There must be animals living under there. I crawl inside a little bit, then crawl out.
For some reason I drag a branch into the caves. My mind is wandering - I'm thinking about artificial speech. Seems that it would only be useful for computer-generated text. Then suddenly I'm lost, I made a turn that I thought should bring me out, but it didn't, and I'm kept from turning back by the heavy branch I've been dragging.
