Crazy Dream Driving at WorkfritzDec 13, 2008

I'm at work, and Sydney is there with me, but she is a little puppy. She's been tied up at the door to my cubicle, but now I have to take her outside immediately because she's not allowed to be in the building. Apparently it's ok if I just walk her out on the leash, but I really have to pee too, and I can't take her down the hall to where the bathrooms are. So I rush her outside, hoping to have a chance to sneak behind a tree or something.

When I get her outside, she's big again, but her coat is oddly smooth and perfect. Everything seems slightly out of kilter and unreal, and I realize that I'm dreaming. I worry for a second that I've fallen asleep at my office, so I force myself awake enough to see that I'm sleeping on my couch at home (indeed, I am), and then I drift back into my dream, in the parking lot of Audio Precision.

Now that I realize I'm dreaming, I load Sydney into my old red truck to have some fun. I accelerate around the parking lot, crashing through the steel pipes that frame the stairwell, and right through the shrubbery at the corner of the building, onto the front lawn. I was going to pull some cookies on the lawn but it's all become a forest now, with a trail through the middle, so I rev up the truck and just cruise through, running over trees and bushes in my path. Surprisingly, they don't even crunch or slow me down, I just truck on as if they weren't there.

At one point I see a black-and-white border collie on the side of the road and I say "Look out, collie dog, I'm coming through!" but I don't slow down. I worry a little about hitting it, even in the dream, but it runs out of the way. I turn to the right and reach the parking lot again, right where it enters from Harvest Court, and there is a herd of hoofed animals there. I say "Look out, deer... no elk, what are you, mooses?" and cruise right through the herd, who scatter in front of the truck. As I get closer, they indeed look strange, with big noses like moose.
