A Dream FallfritzJan 3, 2009

I'm climbing a huge red towering cliff of rock, without any protection. I seem to know I'm dreaming, so I'm not afraid. I get right up to the top, and the view is spectacular, hundreds of feet above the trees.

But climbing down is harder than climbing up, and some of the holds have been pretty tricky. I make a few moves down and then I lose my grip, falling backwards away from the cliff, watching the top of the cliff getting farther and farther away, smaller and smaller. I know I'm dreaming, so I imagine myself being caught in a soft force field at the ground, which takes me to a gentle stop, laying on my back a few feet above the ground at the base of the cliff. The view is incredible, so I get out my camera and line up the shot, but as I am doing so, it turns into a view of a freeway trailing off into the distance, crisscrossed by on-ramps and off-ramps, which is not nearly so interesting.

I go back to my room and start packing my things, going somewhere (as always). There's a dark-haired younger fellow in the room, who is also packing, and chatting. I describe to him the fall, knowing it was a dream, and the view that turned into a freeway.
