Dogs Can Drive in Albuquerque Ice | | fritz | Feb 18, 2009 | I'm driving at night, on a road in a neighborhood similar to upper Burnside, and the road is icy. It gets more and more slippery as I ascend the hill, until the road is just a sheet of ice, and finally I stop, deciding it's too slippery to continue.
I get out for a minute, and let Sydney run around and sniff everything in the dark. A block or so up the hill, I see just her tail as she jumps into a car through an open driver-side door. The door closes, and the car drives away. I'm convinced she is driving the car.
I wander around for a while looking for her, calling out her name, and continue driving up the hill, out of the neighborhood into a wide open park, like in Albuquerque, red land with still a hint of a sunset. There I meet a family who are setting up a campsite, and I sit up on a high rock and talk to them. I tell them about my missing dog, and how I am pretty sure she was driving that car. I know they won't believe me, and I say it as though I'm not sure I believe it myself. They don't seem to believe it.
As we're talking, Sydney comes trotting up the road to find me. | Next: Dennis's Wicked Cool Cave House |
