Unconventional Convention With Cats and WarfritzFeb 25, 2003

I am at some sort of convention, an outdoor affair with many booths against the trees in a large field. It is closing time, and the people are wrapping up their booths, one of which I believe is mine, but I'm looking for my cat, which has wandered off. I find my cat behind the glass front of a meat booth, as they are packing up the meat, snacking on the leftovers. I remark how smart she is, then discover that it is not the cat I was seeking, but my other cat. I begin to carry her back to my booth.

Suddenly overhead there are some silly-looking military planes, appearing to chase each other, and they begin shooting. A war has started. Everybody starts running around in a panic, and booths and things start turning transformer-style into large semi-trucks. Somebody says "they were trucks once, and they shall be again!" The trucks are driving all over the place, in circles, around each

other, people, and other obstacles, on their way out to the road, and it is difficult to stay out of their way.

At some point I notice some grease on one of my fingers, apparently having touched one of the trucks in passing, and I am concerned that I may have smeared it on my face without noticing, but have no mirror with which to check.

(an interpretation by Tim Sauerwein)

The convention represents the upcoming AES show in Amsterdam, and the cat represents a great new idea that you will discover there. The difficulty in finding the cat suggests that you will lose your original idea, but find another one to take its place.

The planes and the war represent the war in Iraq, which will start during the AES show. The transforming booths represent audio technology turning into weapons. Although you are trying not to work on weapons yourself, in the end you realize that you have inadvertantly contributed to the war effort and you have grease on your fingers. Now you are wondering just how much you have contributed to the evil of war yourself, but there is no way to know.
