Delete The Scene or We Roast YoufritzNov 13, 2002

I am on my parents' farm, and in the sky are a few blatant flying saucers, who it turns out have reached the threshold where they can no longer keep silent on the issue of how bad is the first scene of "Gone With the Wind". The "shower scene", they call it, but I haven't seen it so I don't know.

The planets appear with especial vividness, one of which turns out to be an approaching fireball which strikes the earth over the horizon creating an expanding wave of mild flame, slightly torching everything in its wake...

(an interpretation by Tim Sauerwein)

The farm represents the Mamba project, and the flying saucers represent the alien features needed by Compressed Audio. These features are controversial: some experts deny that they are really the work of aliens, claiming instead that they arise from natural causes. At any rate, everyone agrees that they should not be allowed to land wherever they like.

The movie "Gone with the Wind" represents APWIN (which should really have been named AP Wind). Some people think that AP Wind is a great classic that has showered AP with wealth, but there are some who say that it has only showered AP with bugs.

The planets represent the components of Cascade hardware, and the fireball represents the DSP bus arbiter, which is about to reveal yet another design flaw. However, the problem will be fixed quietly (over the horizon), so our customers will never know. But the entire business will be slightly damaged by the problem.
