Bad Grammar Advice, and Disappearing Mini-ChildfritzMar 29, 2009

I walking on Oleson Road headed west, and then I turn right on Hall Blvd. There I see a sign that says "Use a single quote where the one performing the the action is not the speaker of the sentence, as in a dog might 'wag it's tail'." (sic all that)

I'm with a small child, just a few inches tall, and she runs excitedly up to a china cabinet sitting on the side of the road, then disappears. I thought I heard a small splash, like maybe she fell into the water, and I run over there. Although she was very small, there still doesn't appear to be anywhere she could hide. There is a little trench near the front of the cabinet, containing maybe an inch of muddy water, but I run my hand through it, and she isn't there.

Somebody else we were walking with suddenly realizes what is happening and runs over, asking me what happened to her. "I don't know," I say, "where could she go? She was climbing on this thing, there was a little splash, and she was just gone!"
