It's early morning, and I have awakened to go climb a mountain. I'm supposed to meet somebody at 6:30, but the weather looks daunting. It's snowing at my house, there's an inch or so on the ground, and I'm not sure that either of my cars can make it to the mountain, since my truck has a brake problem and my Subaru steers funny in the snow (true to life). It looks like I'll probably have to cancel.

So I go off somewhere with a guy and a girl, a short excursion (as if from my parents' up toward Bald Peak), but suddenly the weather turns nice and sunny, a perfect day to be out on the mountain. I need to get back home and make my appointment with my climbing buddies!

The girl got out at some point and went for a walk alone in the woods, and now we can't find her. I'm getting late, it's almost 6:30, and I'm not even home yet... she shouldn't be gone long, the boy says, she had some other reason to be home soon.
