I'm coming with Joe and Lucy from somewhere in Newberg, perhaps Dave's shop. I've hitched a ride with them in their Volkswagen bug. I'm sitting in the back, and it's very uncomfortable - so much so that I'm not sure I can make it even a few minutes. I remember how these bugs always have such uncomfortable back seats. But there are two of us in the back, and two in the front, so there's no room to stretch out. Then I discover that most of my discomfort is caused by having to duck my head because of some pretuberance from the ceiling that's only above me; the ceiling ducks down right here. So by leaning over almost into the lap of whoever was on the other side, I can ride more comfortably.

I stay the night at Joe's, but it's the Library at my folks. When I awaken, Lucy is getting out of bed, and she's wearing a very frilly nightgown that is very black and white and very covering, like a nun might wear.
