Reunion by the Sea, and Frozen WavefritzJul 27, 2009

I'm at a beach house, for some sort of gathering like a high school reunion, but everyone is still young. There are many familiar people there (Kaye S comes to mind, and Jorji), but nobody I really want to talk to.

I want to go swimming, and Steve was going to go with me, but now he is missing. The tide has come all the way up to the house, and it occurs to me that we should jump into the ocean right from the door, just to say we did it. But while I'm waiting for Steve to show up again, the tide is ebbing. There's still water close around the side of the house, but I think it's a river or something, so it won't have the same effect.

I go down to the beach to swim anyway, and there is a huge wave hanging there, over a hundred feet high, but it isn't crashing, just frozen there in the air(*). A gust of wind hits and knocks a spray of water off the top of the wave, which falls around me like a heavy rain. It's very unusual, and I'm amazed to be a part of it.

* - like the glacier headwall where we ice-climbed last year, which we just talked about that day
