Fish Growth SpurtfritzMar 28, 2006

I'm tending my aquariums, and I notice that suddenly one of my plecos has grown quite huge, pretty much the length of the tank (in real life, I have no plecos). He can barely turn around. I'm wondering what to do. Then I notice that in my other tank, which is smaller, there is also a pleco which has grown beyond proportion. I wonder that they still have food, yet both tanks still seem to have a lot of algae.

Then I notice another fish tank, much larger than the other two, in another corner of the room, which I had completely forgotten about. It has been abandoned for months. I can't tell if any fish have died - I have no recollection of what was in there. I put some food in there, which was sitting nearby, and knock up a small cloud of gunk, so I know the tank is dirty. Strangely, the reflection of my hands on the tank shows some ghostly neon tetras that don't exist.

So I'm thinking that I've got to get the two huge plecos into the big tank, but first I've got to clean and condition the water, and it will take a few days. So I start to pull everything out of the tanks that they're in, all decorations and stuff, to give them as much room as possible.

Then it appears that Milou has noticed the plecos and killed one. Looking into the tank, I can see her curled up almost on top of it, as though proudly, and one of the other cats is beside her. Strange, I think, cats don't usually sit in fish tanks like that.

Then I realize it's an illusion. Looking around the back, I see the cats sitting behind the fish tank. The pleco is fine, just happened to be sitting upside down where it looked like the cat had him pinned.
