Too Snowy ClimbsfritzAug 28, 2009

I'm heading out to climb South Sister (which I'm doing this weekend in real life), in a van with several other people, including Dana from the climbing club. We start our drive partway up Mount Hood for some reason, which is very snowy for this time of year. There's snow all over the mountain, where it should just be volcanic dust. This concerns me, because I didn't bring shoes for snow, expecting it would all be melted by this point in late summer. South Sister is still far away, but I wonder if I should go now and get my winter boots before we get started.

Then Dana says something about the trailhead being not very far away, and it seems that we're not climbing South Sister after all, we must be climbing this snowy Mount Hood.
