I'm just entering a hotel room I'm apparently sharing with two travel companions. One is I think Bryan's girlfriend Chloe from the early 90's, except older now, and she happens to be changing her shirt, so that I get an accidental view of her bare chest in the mostly-dark room. My other companion is my old friend Karl, but older, and he is sitting in a far corner of the room, the ember of his cigarette glowing in the dark.

I just got back from a small bike ride, and we were going to ride our bikes along the beach, but looking out my window, I can see that the tide has come way in, aggressively so. The beach is completely covered, up to the craggy rocks. So there's no way we can do the planned ride.
