I leaving my parents' house, just about to get into my car, which is a Pontiac from the 70's, a huge tan boat that is new to me. I have two dogs, one big and one small, and I'm not sure yet where to put them. I don't really want them dogging up the back seat, and it seems they'd be perfectly comfortable in the trunk, which is nearly the size of a modern car, although they might feel a little claustrophobic. I have a vivid mental image of them sleeping back there, and then happily jumping out when we get home.

As I'm pondering this, another car starts in my parents' driveway, and headlights come on. One of my dogs is near that car, so I call her loudly and forcefully "Come! Come! Come!". She slinks obediently over to me, then I say "Sit! Stay!" and she stares in my eyes, looking a little frightened by my intensity, but sitting properly.
