It is the first day of class at school, and a girl named Renee has brought two frogs. They're sitting huddled together and covered with goo as though somebody swallowed them and coughed them up.

The teacher, who might be my mom, comes and goes, but doesn't teach because it's the first day.

I work out an equation relating to the frogs. As I explain to the teacher, it has in it either a 1 or a -1; the -1 would be simply impossible because it would be continually changing sign; therefore the 1 is most reasonable, and the conclusion therefore is that Renee brought the frogs. But as I say it I feel bad because it seems she was embarrassed about it and keeping it a secret.
