Vet Hospital Staff Shirt-StealerfritzJan 10, 2010

Milou has gotten worse. She's leaving a puddle of pee on the blanket every time she sits down. She's on my lap, and I reach down, and feel her rear end, and it's soaked; she's just leaking (*1).

Then I'm working at the vet, as some sort of orderly. I'm trying to stay out of the way of the doctors, who are attractive girls, so I crouch down in a corner with my neck against a cold metal table. One of the doctor compliments me on finding such a compact position (*2).

Later I go into the mall, but I realize for some reason I have no shirt. There is a pile of shirts there, so I grab one and put it on, a flowery hospital shirt that ties in the back. It seems to go well with my green surgery pants.

I walk out of the store into the mall and bump into Julie, who remarks on my interesting choice of attire, and suggests that the shirt is stolen. No, I explain, it was already a castoff. I look for a price tag on it, and there doesn't seem to be one, but there's evidence that the shirt had been used and well worn, with dirt in certain patterns on the tails. I think somebody bought a new shirt and cast this one aside.

Then I'm returning some cups to Fred Meyer, some old mugs that I pulled out of my cupboards, all boxed up and padded in newspaper (*3). The clerk runs them through the scanner, and they register. The clerk says that he's surprised I can return old stuff like that. I comment that only part of it returned, the rest just comes along for the ride. But then I notice that, also in the boxes are several etched wine glasses that I recently got as a gift from a friend. They wouldn't take those back, and anyway I wouldn't want to part with them, but it seems it's probably too late to reverse the transaction.

(*1) Lots of talk with Natasha today about Milou's pee problem.

(*2) Spent about an hour in online support chat with HP, and the support person was over-the-top complimentary about my patience and knowledge, even bothering to send me an email later to say so. It was odd.

(*3) The mugs are indeed boxed and padded, dug them out just that day, and they await transport to goodwill.
